Kykuit and Stone Barns afternoon

a dry-landscape garden (kare-sansui), based on the 15th century garden at the Zen Temple Ryoan-ji in Kyoto. It is designed for meditation. The rocks are arranged with a vast expanse of white gravel, raked so as to suggest islands in a vast sea or mountains rising through banks of clouds.
