The 49th Annual Evergreen Rodeo was in town on June 14 and 15th. While the boys were watching the US Open on TV, I went over to the nearby El Pinal Rodeo Grounds for the Sunday afternoon performance.
Cowboys and cowgirls who compete on te rodeo circuit pay their own way to each rodeo and its entry fees. They don't win money unless they place. The ranching life they come from is hard work and low pay, 7 days a week, 15 hours a day.
There is a kind of midway you go through to get from the main entrance gate to the stands, filled with all manner of booths and games for the kids.
